How many contractors we list, by state and method
How many underpinning and remedial contractors we list today, by state and method, and what this snapshot does not tell you about the wider market.
As at 14 August 2026, we have 152 underpinning and remedial contractors listed across Australia: 33 serving Sydney and greater NSW, 53 serving Melbourne and greater VIC, 38 serving Brisbane and greater QLD, 16 serving Perth and greater WA, and 12 serving Adelaide and greater SA. Every capital-city page now has a real roster attached. We publish these counts so a homeowner, a journalist or a contractor deciding whether to ask for a listing can see exactly what is listed here today, rather than guessing from a search result.
The counts below come straight from our own listing records, not from a survey of the industry. We update them as the roster grows, and we say clearly further down what this data can and cannot tell you.
Contractors listed, by state
All five capital-city pages now carry a real contractor roster of at least 12 businesses.
| State | Contractors listed | Capital-city page |
|---|---|---|
| NSW | 33 | Sydney |
| VIC | 53 | Melbourne |
| QLD | 38 | Brisbane |
| WA | 16 | Perth |
| SA | 12 | Adelaide |
| Total | 152 | All five capital cities |
Contractors listed, by repair method
Most listed businesses advertise more than one repair method, so the method counts below add up to 230 tags across 152 contractors, not 152. Restumping and reblocking is the most common method tag in the current roster, reflecting how many Brisbane and Melbourne listings work on timber-stumped homes, followed by structural crack repair, waterproofing, concrete cancer repair and resin injection.
| Method | Contractors listing this method |
|---|---|
| Restumping / reblocking | 57 |
| Structural crack repair | 39 |
| Waterproofing | 34 |
| Concrete cancer repair | 28 |
| Resin injection | 24 |
| Strata / apartment experience | 24 |
| Screw pier underpinning | 14 |
| Concrete underpinning | 6 |
| Works from engineer's report | 4 |
| Insurance claim experience | 0 |
If you want to compare what these methods actually cost or which one suits a given problem, the method comparison guide and cost guide already cover that in detail; this page only counts who we have listed, not what they charge.
Licence checks
46 of the 152 listings carry a "licence checked" badge: 12 in Sydney, 21 in Melbourne and 13 in Brisbane, matched by business name against the relevant state regulator's own public licensee data (QBCC for Queensland, NSW Fair Trading for New South Wales, the Victorian Building Authority for Victoria). Perth and Adelaide listings currently carry no badge, not because those businesses are unlicensed, but because Western Australia's and South Australia's public registers do not support a straightforward business-name lookup the way the other three do. A missing badge is never a negative signal about a specific business; always confirm current licensing directly before hiring, in every state.
How a business ends up in this snapshot
Every listing here is a real, publicly-known Australian remedial or underpinning business, named by brand, primary metro and the repair methods it publicly advertises, sourced from Google Business Profile data and each business's own published website copy. We show each listing's public Google rating and review count, but we do not publish phone numbers or websites on listings. If you want to contact a listed contractor, you send an enquiry through this site and, with your consent, we pass your details to a contractor serving your area so they can follow up. We have not personally verified every attribute of every listing with the business directly.
What this snapshot does, and does not, show
This page counts what we have listed so far. It is not a count of how many underpinning or remedial contractors operate in Australia, and it is not a market-share or coverage measure. Melbourne having more listings than Adelaide reflects how many businesses came up in our own sourcing pass and cleared our verification bar in each city, not that Victoria has more underpinning contractors than South Australia. Browse the full contractor directory or see the current listings by city, and we will revise the counts on this page as the roster grows.
Common questions
Is this a full list of underpinning contractors in Australia?
No. It is a count of the contractors we have added to this directory so far, a growing sample, not a survey of the market. Use it to see what this specific directory covers today, not how many underpinning specialists operate in Australia.
Why does Melbourne have more listings than Adelaide?
Because of how many businesses came up in our own sourcing pass and cleared our verification bar in each city, not because Victoria has more underpinning contractors than South Australia. We are continuing to add to every city.
Why don't Perth and Adelaide listings show a licence-checked badge?
Western Australia's and South Australia's public licence registers do not support a straightforward business-name search the way Queensland's, New South Wales' and Victoria's do, so we have not been able to check those listings against their state regulator yet. It says nothing about whether a specific Perth or Adelaide business is licensed.
